Crumbl’s Holiday Cookie Has 1,200 Calories: ‘The fact that this is legal is crazy’

For such a delicious pastry, this is how the cookie crumbles.

Crumbl Cookies debuted a holiday peppermint brownie that’s great for the palate but bad for the waistline, wowing viewers with its insanely high calorie count.

The limited edition Candy Cane Brownie – a chocolate confection smothered in peppermint butter and topped with ganache and candy cane pieces – contains just over 1,200 calories, which foodies have claimed is the “highest calorie item of the company”.

According to the nutritional information, each ‘serve’ – as if one doesn’t eat the whole dessert – is just 180 calories, meaning there are more than six servings for the brownie, which was created in partnership with the show’s late host Jimmy Fallon.

Despite the Tonight Show celebrity declaring it the “best brownie” she’s ever had, some TikTokers weren’t convinced the decadent treat was worth the inches on their waistlines.

“Tell me who in their right mind – and especially an American – would eat this in six sittings,” one content creator snarled. “This is not realistic at all.”

He claimed that, while the dessert is likely to be delicious, it’s probably not “worth the calories”.

“No one needs that many calories,” quipped another creator named Charlie Caruso, adding that “it’s no wonder the US has such a high obesity rate.”

The whole brownie also contains 121 grams of sugar and 101 grams of added sugar, which is 202% of the average daily intake. Similarly, it has 40 grams of saturated fat – also 202% of the recommended daily intake.

For reference, the average daily sugar intake should be less than 10% of daily calories consumed, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a 2,000-calorie diet, then, that equates to roughly 12 teaspoons of added sugar.

Adults should consume a total of 1,600 to 3,000 calories per day, depending on their nutritional needs. Brownie Crumbl, then, can be almost all of one’s daily caloric intake.

“You could eat 3-4 meals with that amount of calories,” wrote one TikTok commenter.

“The fact that this is legal is crazy,” added another cursed user.

“I really don’t understand how something can be so calorie dense,” said someone else.

“Imagine not knowing that and eating 5 of them,” one person said.

Crumbl has long been criticized for the nutrition of its products, which people have previously called “diabetes in a box”.

“Without clear labeling, consumers may underestimate caloric and nutritional content, which is especially concerning with large portions like those offered by Crumbl,” Northwestern professor Dr. Darin Detwiler recently told the Daily Mail.

“If these cookies were firearms, they would be illegal.”
